Detailed Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Bangkok

Naga - Caravan to LaosDay 1

Saturday / Tuesday

Cooking Class

Today you will get an introduction to the famous Thai kitchen. During this join-in half-day course you will learn to prepare four dishes. After having enjoyed your self cooked Thai meals you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 2: Bangkok - Chiang Mai

Sunday / Wednesday

Transfer on own to Hualamphong Railway Station where you will board the night train to Chiang Mai (ticket included). A sleeper will be reserved for you.

Monday / Thursday

Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, you will be met by our Khiri representative outside the Railway Station. You will be accompanied to the Chiang Mai bus station, onto a airconditioned, public bus to Chiang Rai (ticket included).

Upon arrival at Chiang Rai bus station transfer on own to hotel.

Tuesday / Friday

A driver will pick up from your hotel at 08.00 AM and transfer to the border at Chiang Khong. After passing Thai Immigration take the boat (token amount, own costs) to the other side of the Mekong River where your Lao contact will wait for you at 10 AM. He will escort you on board of a join-in transfer to Luang Namtha, located near Nam Ha National Biodiversity Conservation Area.  This nature reserve, covered by tropical rainforest, is wedged between the Nam Ha and Nam Tha rivers.  After arrival in your hotel, late afternoon, you will get a briefing with information regarding the one day trek starting on the following day.

Day 5: Luang Namtha

Wednesday / saturday

Today embark on a one-day hike (around 6 to 7 hours) into the Nam Ha NPA. Along the way you will see villagers collecting forest products, tending livestock or working their upland fields. You will walk along a track up to the Akha village of Nam Yang where you will have a chance to learn a bit about the life of the Akha in the hills. An Akha hunter will accompany you and display his bird calling skills. Before returning to the valley, the tour visits an Akha village at the highest point. If time allows, the tour also includes a stop at That Poum Pouk, Luang Namtha’s most ancient and newest Stupa.

Day 6: Luang Namtha

Thursday / Sunday

Free day to explore the scenic area on own. Possible activities include:

Rent a bicycle and explore the town and surrounding countryside. Visit the Luang Namtha Museum, open 8:30 - 12:00 & 1:30 - 3:30, Monday-Friday. For a good view over the countryside climb the hill behind the Hongta Xaysomboune Hotel.

Friday / Monday

Today you will travel by public bus to Luang Prabang, this trip will take the whole day, but takes you through very scenic area. The staff of your guesthouse will arrange around 08.00 AM a join-in transfer to the main bus station in Luang Namtha  from where the bus will depart arLuangPrabang-06.jpgound 09.00 AM. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, on own to your hotel.

Day 8: Luang Prabang

Saturday / Tuesday

Kuang Si waterfall in Luang Prabang

This morning you will be picked up by our guide. 

Monks wander through the city to bless the local population.  They receive gifts of thanks, especially sticky rice bowls in which they carry.  After breakfast visit the beautiful Kuang Si waterfalls where turquoise water on the limestone rock clatters down.  Under the Kuand Si are large ponds that are perfectly suited for a refreshing bath.  Before you enjoy a delicious picnic lunch near the waterfront, drive along overwhelming landscapes, teak forests and several indigenous villages ( of the Hmong and Khmu)

Return to your hotel and your tour ends here
