Detailed Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Bangkok

After arrival in Bangkok, you will be met upon arrival by your guide and tour leader and they will transfer you to your hotel.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a trip by a local "long-tail" boat on the Chao Phraya River and its canals, stopping at the magnificent Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, along the way.

After returning to your hotel, the evening will be free to spend at your leisure. You will stay overnight at the Royal River Hotel, Bangkok

Day 2: Bangkok

After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel for a tour of the awe-inspiring Wat Pra Kaew and Grand Palace complex. Wat Pra Kaew is home to the Emerald Buddha, one of Thailand's most important religious artefacts. The Grand Palace is the former residence of Thai monarchs and is one of the most beautiful examples of ancient Siamese architecture. It is revered for its magnificent murals, colorful figures and impressive architecture. Right next to the palace is Wat Po, the oldest temple in Bangkok with the biggest reclining Buddha and the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand.

After returning to the hotel, the afternoon is free for you to explore Bangkok on your own.

In the evening, enjoy an award winning show of traditional Thai puppetry. You will be amazed by the skills by which the master puppeteers bring their puppets to life.

Early this morning you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the Floating Market of Damnoen Saduak. On the way you will make a short stop at the salt-winning fields at Samut Sakhon.

Arriving at the floating market before the crowds, you will make a trip by small boat through the network of canals, allowing you to get a real feel for this remarkable market.

After the market, you will continue to Kanchanaburi and board the train for a ride over the last remaining stretch of the infamous Burma Railway, which includes the bridge on the River Kwai. Your driver will be waiting for you when you disembark at Wangpho Station. In the afternoon, you will continue to explore the region's history as you take a walking tour through the Hellfire Pass.

Late in the afternoon, you will arrive at your unique tented camp located on the banks of the River Kwai. You will have the opportunity to take a swim in the riverside pool, which is fed by a nearby natural spring, before enjoying dinner around a campfire.

You will start the day with a drive to the Erawan National Park where you will spend a couple of hours at this wonderful waterfall. You can walk all the way up to the top of the waterfall or have a swim in the crystal clear water at one of the waterfall's many levels.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant and in the afternoon, you will drive to Ayuthaya, one of Thailand's former capitals.

Day 5: Ayuthaya - Sukhothai

In the morning, you will get a taste of Thailand's former capital by exploring some of the most famous temple ruins of Ayuthaya, such as Wat Mahatat, Wat Sri Sanphet and Wat Chaya Mongkol.

Later, you will continue north to the rural town of Manohrom, where you will board the waiting converted rice barge for a cruise along the Sakae Krang River, a tributary of the Chao Phraya River.

Enjoy a sumptuous lunch on board the boat while taking in the traditional sights of the Thai countryside, where time seems to have stopped.

This morning you will start you exploration of the Sukhothai Historical Park. In 1238, Sukhothai became the first truly independent Thai kingdom and it is home to many fascinating sights. You will start your tour at the Ramkamhaeng Museum and then continue to the adjacent Wat Mahathat by foot. After this, you will tour the historical park, either by car or bicycle visiting, amongst others, Wat Chang Lom, Wat Phra Phai Luang and Wat Si Chum before continuing to Sri Satchanalai Historical Park.

Later, you will return to Sukhothai and then drive east to Phitsanulok for lunch and a visit to Wat Phra Chinnarat. Afterwards, you will continue further east into the lush mountains of Petchabun Province where you will check in to your nature lodge, situated along the banks of the Wang River.

Day 7: Phitsanulok

This day is free to enjoy the lodge and the beautiful scenery. If you wish, you can join the tour leader on an optional excursion to the stunning Phu Hin Rongklaa National Park.

Day 8 will be spent travelling to Chiang Rai. During the journey, there will be plenty of time to stop and enjoy the spectacular views, visit some of the picturesque villages and buy lunch in a local restaurant. You will also visit the amazing white temple of Wat Rong Khun en route.

Day 9: Chiang Rai

The day will start with a drive to Mae Sai for a short stop at the bustling border-crossing between Myanmar and Thailand. You can cross the border on a day pass (costs not included) and wander through the local market, rife with contraband and products from China. Next, you will drive on to the historical town of Chiang Saen, founded in 1328 by a nephew of King Mengrai. Here you will visit the Chedi Luang. As you continue to Chiang Rai, you will also stop at the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) meet.

Today you will travel to Chiang Mai, visiting local handicraft villages at Bor Sang and San Kampaeng along the way.

The rest of the day is free to spend at your leisure.

Day 11: Chiang Mai

ou will be picked up in the morning at 08:00 am and driven to the Mae Sa Valley, just North of Chiang Mai where you can visit the Elephant Camp to watch a show of how elephants are trained to work in the jungle. With a ban on logging in Thailand these days, most elephants now work in tourism-related jobs throughout the country. Nevertheless, the show is impressive show and afterwards it is possible to enjoy a short ride on one of the elephants (optional).

After the Elephant Camp, you will visit an Orchid Nursery which also houses a delightful butterfly garden.

The afternoon is free for you to explore the charming town of Chiang Mai on your own.

Day 12: Chiang Mai

This morning, for those who are interested, we can arrange a short but rewarding tour that combines a visit to the famous mountain temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep with a hike along a nature trail, led by an expert guide. For this option, you will leave at sunrise and return to the hotel around noon.

In the afternoon, you will transfer to the Chiang Mai Railway Station in time to board the afternoon train to Bangkok.

You will spend the night on the train to Bangkok in a 2nd class AC sleeper car.

Day 13: Chiang Mai - Hua Hin

After arrival in Bangkok in the early hours, you will have breakfast at a hotel by the railway station before driving to the seaside resort of Hua Hin/Cha Am, on the Gulf of Thailand.

Day 14: Hua Hin

This is a free day to spend on the beach.

However, if you still crave more adventure, it is possible to make day excursions from Cha Am to the Thale Noi and Kaeng Krachan National Parks and well as to offshore islands, such as Koh Talu.
